To help us create the best possible portraits of your dog, here are a few tips to ensure they’re relaxed, happy, and ready to shine in front of the camera.
🦴 1. Exercise First — Lightly!
Take your dog for a short walk before the session. This helps release extra energy and calms anxious or overly excited pups. Avoid overly intense activity—they should arrive relaxed, not worn out.
🐕 2. Grooming & Clean-Up
Brush your dog the night before or day of the session.
Wipe eyes and face (especially for breeds with folds).
Make sure paws and bottoms are clean—those details show up!
Schedule a grooming appointment 2–3 days in advance (not same-day).
🎾 3. Bring Their Favorites
Bring items your dog knows and loves:
Favorite treats (high-value ones like cheese or jerky work best)
A squeaky toy or small plush that gets their attention
A blanket or bed if they feel more secure with it
Note: Please let me know if your dog has food allergies or sensitivities.
📿 4. Collars, Leashes & Accessories
A simple, clean collar is best (avoid large harnesses unless medically necessary).
If you’d like photos with bandanas, bows, or props, bring them!
We'll remove leashes digitally if necessary—safety comes first.
🐶 5. Feed Lightly Before the Session
A slightly hungry dog is often more motivated by treats. Feed a smaller meal, or save their full meal until after the session as a reward.
🧘 6. Stay Calm, and They Will Too
Dogs are sensitive to your energy. If you’re relaxed, they will be too. I’ve worked with puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, and everything in between—we’ll go at their pace.
💡 Bonus Tips
Bring poop bags (accidents happen!)
Avoid scheduling vet visits, grooming, or stressful outings on the same day
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early for a calm transition into the studio
