DOGS PHOTOGRAPHY

Before I spent five years photographing the sleek lines and bold curves of classic cars, I began my career in the quiet focus of a portrait studio. Capturing the emotion and essence of people has always been at the heart of my work, and one of those early portraits now hangs in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, a humbling milestone I'll always treasure. After decades of commercial and fine art photography, I've come full circle—this time with four-legged subjects. Today. I specialize in studio dog portraits, creating soulful, enduring images that honor the love and personality of your best friend.

From the polished chrome of vintage vehicles to the soft fur of a senior dog, I've learned that every subject has a story, and my purpose as a photographer is to help you see it, feel it, and remember it. Now based in a quiet, intimate studio here in Northeast Florida, I've downsized by design—choosing to focus on meaningful, heartfelt work that brings joy to both me and the people (and pups) I serve. If your dog is part of your story, let's capture it beautifully and forever.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (October 8, 2017) – With the October 2017 acquisition of a new photographic portrait of Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes into its collection, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery validates the historic significance and power of the re-enactment of their “raised fists” statement of equal rights for women and blacks. More than 45 years since the original Dan Winn image appeared in Esquire magazine, their message has not dimmed with age. The portrait will be displayed in the Museum of the City of New York’s exhibition Beyond Suffrage: A Century of New York Women in Politics, which opens on October 10, 2017. It will also be unveiled on October 9 at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, where Pitman Hughes lives and continues her activism. For Pitman Hughes and Steinem, the new portrait featuring the defiant black power salute again helps open up dialog on sexism and racism that is still vitally needed today, while demonstrating their continued hope for positive change. “We must have difficult conversations, and it’s also important to talk about the learning, growing, friendship and joy that come from having them,” said Steinem. “So it’s important to say that in real life, neither Dorothy nor I would give up – or be the same without – our nearly half-century of shared hopes, differences, laughter and friendship.” The partnership between Steinem and Pitman Hughes began in the early 1970s as the pair took to the podium to discuss the importance of intersectional feminism. Together they founded Ms. Magazine and the Women’s Action Alliance. Decades later, the impact of their partnership has not waned. Steinem and Pitman Hughes remain an inspiration to activists across the country as they continue to push for racial and gender equality. “The symbolism of a black and white woman standing together, demonstrating the black power salute is as important now as it was in the 70s,” said Pitman Hughes. “A hundred years of the suffrage movement has not eliminated racism, classism and sexism. Black women and white women can make this change together, but not until we acknowledge and resolve the racism problem that stands between us.” They have struck their side-by-side, raised fists pose many times over the years. But this new portrait’s photographer, Daniel Bagan said the moment was right to re-capture their symbolism. “The women were dynamically engaged in their iconic stance, and the result was inspiring,” said Bagan. “Even decades later, their power and beauty show no sign of age, just wisdom reflected in their soft smiles.”

Our Photography Studio

Bagan & Company is full service custom automobile photography studio.  The studio was designed and built solely to photograph cars of all types using our custom 25’ x 50’ photography facility.  The studio uses a large overhead mounted 10’ x 30’ Chimera soft box light fixture specifically made to provide commercial grade lighting for photographing cars and trucks.

Additionally, the studio walls were custom built in a cyclorama design, which means there are no photographic corners and allows the background and flooring to disappear and accentuate the automobile front and center.  This creates a polished and commercial grade image that can be used to create beautiful full size prints up to billboard size.

We also can digitally replace background images in software to place the vehicle in a unique setting such as the beach, pastoral lake scene or a vintage barn image.

While our unique vehicle photography studio lighting provides tack sharp commercial grade quality photographs, a large number of our retail clients are private collectors who want a fantastic print to hang on the wall.  Many of these owners also pose with their vehicle portrait style. Since Bagan & Company also offers standard portraiture photography, we are skilled at photographing people as well as vehicles.  We appreciate how passionate car enthusiasts are about their special ride and are always open to client special requests and suggestions, so bring your family and dress to match the period of your car to give your photograph a personal lifestyle touch.

Who Do We Photograph?

We offer photography for vehicles ranging from motorcycles, horse drawn carriages, muscle and classic cars to today’s electric cars.  Our custom studio lighting is able to create the sharpest and most realistic photograph regardless of the style of paint, finish, style or trim that your vehicle has.
